A smile
written in spacetime.
A distant galaxy cluster. A cosmic lens. One of the universe’s most unexpected expressions—and a little internet culture orbiting around it.

NOT A FACE. SOMETHING MORE BEAUTIFUL.
Space bends.
Light remembers.
The “smile” of SDSS J1038+4849 is a cosmic illusion made by gravity. A massive foreground cluster bends and magnifies light from galaxies farther away, drawing arcs across the dark.
NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope captured the remarkable alignment. We took its little wink as inspiration for a community token built for the internet age.
